“Who is Your Prison” is a spot-on near-future science-fiction scenario of how the world could be when the COVID19 pandemic is over. With spoken word, dreamy choir, melodic keys, guitar and sansula Lady Petit presents herself as a modern and feminine answer to art-punk. The music video is a piece of daring pop-art consisting of three elements: Dog, megaphone, the writing on the wall.
Lady Petit has looked into her witchy crystal bowl and mediated on the strange times of spring 2020. These days, many people are quarantined in their homes. Many of whom are eager to get back to life. Their everyday life.
Through the music, Lady Petit forces you to ask yourself questions. What life will we get back to? Might there be some disappointment that the life we missed for so long wasn’t more fulfilling? Is it possible that the world has changed, that we have changed, during all this time of boredom, fear and grief - and how? Could the months during the corona crisis have been spent differently? Is life only for days of physical freedom?
lyrics
Chorus:
Who were you then
Who shall you be
Who is your prison
Who set you free
Verse
Vigilantes walk the streets
While others dance to beats
Lives are broken children born
Don’t say I didn’t warn
Roaring twenties once again
Make love to Mary Jane
No tomorrow days are lost
Exist at any cost
Some survivors fight the peace
In fear of the disease
Speculators will exploit
That we have been destroyed
